ArcelorMittal Construction will be presenting four new products from Arval at the BAU 2011 trade fair from 17 to 22 January. The new system solutions it will be introducing include a new coating system for roofing and wall elements, two new cladding systems as well as a new composite flooring system. The company’s portfolio of roofing and wall cladding products will also be presented as well as the range offered by ArcelorMittal-Pflaum in Austria.
ArcelorMittal will also be publishing the latest edition of its steel construction guidelines, "Kosten im Stahlbau," prior to the start of the trade fair. ArcelorMittal Construction will be present at the joint stand of the bauforumstahl (hall B2 / 318), which will be holding numerous interesting specialist lectures within the scope of a campus under the motto "New approaches for sustainable construction."
Evos – the cladding system for aesthetic demands
Evos is a cladding system that fulfils the individual and aesthetic demands of both architects and investors. Evos utilises a self-supporting steel trapezoidal profile, to which decorative coverplates can be attached vertically by clicking them into place. These coverplates are available in different colours and forms and can be combined freely. Evos can be used as an independent system – during building renovations for example – or combined with thermally insulated GlobalWall inner shells. When used in this way Evos fulfils both acoustic and thermal requirements with extremely low U-values. Thanks to its technical performance and versatile and flexible design options, the Evos system is a real eye catcher in today’s highly standardised industrial environments.
Sinea – the coating with a guarantee of up to 40 years
With Sinea, Arval is introducing a coating system for construction elements applied to steel sheet that is trade marked with the Arval Trust seal of quality and guarantees a working life of up to 40 years. Sinea can help to reduce maintenance costs thanks to the considerably longer maintenance-free lifespan. With this coating system, both sides of the steel sheet are hot dip galvanised, the weather-facing side then receives a multi-layer polyurethane coating (85µm) and an extremely resistant lacquer is applied to the rear side.
Sinea provides above-average protection against corrosion and durable UV resistance (RC5 and / or RUV4 in accordance with EN 10169). The coating system guarantees a high level of resistance against chemical substances as well as abrasion resistance and excellent colour and gloss retention. This means Sinea can also be used for roofing and wall cladding elements that will be subject to harsh weather conditions. Sinea is available in twelve different colours.
K’energy – "Your Key to Saving Energy"
K’energy is a cladding concept from Arval that combines the economic benefits of industrial cladding with the aesthetic features of curtain wall cladding while fulfilling the strict requirements related to thermal insulation. Sandwich elements form the basis of this product, enabling swift assembly and earlier protection against weather. The K’energy system is extremely airtight and reduces energy loss via thermal bridges thanks to the low number of fasteners required. Both of these aspects are decisive with regard to the high insulation standards (U<0.15 W / m2K) which apply during the realisation of low-energy buildings.
The spacing construction that is integrated into this system enables an additional insulating layer or rear ventilation to be provided. In addition to the wide variety of metallic covering elements from Arval, K’energy can also be used with outer shells made of various materials, such as plaster, ceramic, clay, glass, wood or plastic. Background lighting can also be used with materials with transparent or semi-transparent properties. A product that can be combined with solar modules is currently under development. This solution from K’energy provides a whole range of new design opportunities similar to those that are possible with curtain wall cladding systems in industrial and commercial buildings.
Cofraplus 220 – The solution for lightweight, Long-Span Composite floors
With a profile height of just 220mm and a sheet thickness of 1mm, 1.13 mm or 1.25 mm, the Cofraplus 220 composite floor profile sets new standards in steel and concrete construction. Despite its low weight, the system offers cross-sectional properties that are up to 20% higher than similar products. With similar loads, unsupported spans of up to 6m are possible when pouring concrete with propping, which means the system is an economically viable option for multi-storey car parks.
The Cofraplus 220 floor system is a complete solution with a comprehensive range of accessories. For example, the "wings," which are used as special supports for the sheets, are already welded to the main beams in-house. The welded shear studs, on the upper flange of the main beams insure the composite action with the concrete. With the help of reinforcement, a continuous floor slab design can be achieved. This reduces the stress on the Cofraplus 220 profile significantly in the middle of the field, which, in return, leads to an optimisation of the overall reinforcement in common steel grades as well as an increase in the performance of the ceiling system.
Cofraplus 220 can also be used in combination with asymmetrical girders as a slim floor system for office and general multi-storey construction. In doing so, the profiles are placed on the bottom flange of the girders and the remaining openings are closed using moulded components prior to concreting. Slim ceilings with an overall thickness of only 25-30cm can therefore be used to span unprecedented distances in multi-storey construction.
Kosten im Stahlbau 2011 – Latest edition of the guidelines available at the BAU 2011
The early assessment of construction alternatives is a fundamental aspect of project planning. The second edition of the guidelines "Kosten im Stahlbau 2011" from ArcelorMittal provides current price indications for steel solutions for all building functions. The large amount of interest generated by the first edition two years ago has encouraged the publisher and its partners, the European Council of Construction Economists (CEEC) and the University of Stuttgart, to provide an updated version. Furthermore, a new and competent supporter for this initiative has been found in the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS Deutschland). In addition to the tried-and-tested price indicators for structural frames and various building envelopes, including openings such as windows, doors and gateways, the brochure was extended to include lightweight steel construction methods and integrated solar solutions.
